From Chapter 6 of the Philippine Consensus Report on Asthma 2004 by the Philippine College of Chest Physicians.
This guideline starts below.

What is the recommended dose for anti-leukotrienes in asthma?

Answer

Below are the recommended initial adult dosage of the available anti-LTs in the Philippine market.

  • Montelukast: 10 mg (5-10 mg) h.s., p.o.
  • Zafirlukast: 20 mg (range: 20-80) b.i.d., p.o. (one hour before or two hours after a meal)

In both preparations, higher dosages have been used, but only modest additional improvements of asthma parameters were seen. The effective dose is continued up to 3 months after which the anti-LT can be stopped if asthma control is good.
